George is Head of our Beijing office which opened in September 2009.

George has wide-ranging experience of corporate and commercial work in Europe and Asia. He has been based in our London and Hong Kong offices for much of his career and has also worked in Tokyo for three years. His practice in Beijing focuses on M&A and outbound investment from China, as well as inbound investment and other projects involving China.

His work includes advising:

• NYK Lines on its share swap with the Hutchison Port Holdings Group of a controlling interest in Ceres Terminals Europe in Amsterdam
  
• the lenders in relation to a US$430 million financing of H3C Holdings Limited in connection with 3Com Group’s acquisition of a 49% shareholding in Huawei-3Com Co., Limited from the Huawei Group
• CITIC Group on the sale of a 50% indirect equity shareholding in JSC Karazhanbasmunai (holding the Karazhanbas oil field) to CITIC Resources Holdings and the sale to affiliates of JSC Exploration & Production KazMunayGas and financing of the remaining 50% indirect equity shareholding
• LM Ericsson on the formation of the Sony Ericsson mobile handsets joint venture with Sony Corporation
• IntesaBci, Mediobanca and UBS Warburg on the IPO and listing on the Italian Stock Exchange of ASM Brescia
