Merger Control

Our merger control practice is one of the leading practices in Europe. It advises on the competition and regulatory aspects of acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures.

We are continuously involved in EC Merger Regulation ("ECMR") case work. This includes a substantial proportion of the more challenging Phase II ‘serious doubts’ cases and Phase I cases settled by commitments.

In the UK, we have for many years had one of the leading UK merger control practices. In the last decade, we have had a major involvement in about one quarter of all mergers subjected to detailed scrutiny by the Competition Commission, the second stage inquiry body.

We have also been active in a number of cross-border mergers below the ECMR thresholds, coordinating local merger filings ourselves and through our network of "Best Friend" competition specialists.
