These secondments are either to one of our own offices or to one of the leading independent law firms we regularly work with.
Trainees have recently spent time in Amsterdam, Auckland, Barcelona, Brussels, Helsinki, Hong Kong, Madrid, Milan, Munich, New York, Oslo, Paris, Stockholm and Sydney. Secondments typically last six months, except that trainees doing a seat in the Competition group have the opportunity to spend three months in Brussels.
We take care of all the practical arrangements for trainees going abroad including flights, accommodation and any necessary work permits. While on secondment trainees receive support from us and close contact with our London office is maintained. Secondees are allocated a supervisor in London with whom they can discuss their progress regularly.
Secondments provide a great opportunity to travel and experience different cultures and ways of working. They often lead to lasting professional relationships and friendships.
After qualification there are further opportunities to go on secondment - to clients, to law firms overseas or to one of our own offices.
